The Welsh Ambulance Service supports Woody’s Lodge

A Heartfelt Thank You to the Welsh Ambulance Service for Their Support on the Normandy Charity Cycle

This week, in a remarkable display of solidarity and dedication, over 70 riders embarked on a challenging cycle through Normandy to raise funds for our armed forces veterans. Among these inspiring individuals are the Welsh Ambulance Service’s very own duty operational managers Julie Hillier and Kevin Dwyer, as well as Ian Price from Cardiff make ready depot in Cardiff Ambulance Station. The Welsh Ambulance Service’s participation in this charitable endeavor, along with the support of paramedics Stan Baxter, Andy Ellis, Simon Holliday, and Emergency Medical Technician Simon Thomas from the Trust’s Cycle Response Unit (CRU), is  instrumental in ensuring the success of this meaningful event.

A Journey of Remembrance and Generosity

Over the course of three days, the team will cover an impressive distance of 250 miles, stopping at various memorial sites along the route to pay their respects and lay wreaths in honor of the fallen heroes. Their noble mission was not only to raise a minimum of £4,500 for Woody’s Lodge but also to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the armed forces. Their commitment and unwavering determination have not gone unnoticed.

The Welsh Ambulance Service’s Efforts

Julie Hillier expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for the overwhelming support received, stating, “We’ve held a charity race night and quiz night, and the CRU support staff have pledged a further £1,000 to the cause.” The team’s fundraising efforts have been nothing short of exceptional, surpassing their initial goal. Their relentless commitment to the cause exemplifies the dedication and compassion that the Welsh Ambulance Service stands for.

A Grateful Acknowledgment

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Welsh Ambulance Service, including Julie Hillier, Kevin Dwyer, and Ian Price, for their commitment and contribution to this noble cause. Their participation not only showcased their physical endurance but also highlighted their unwavering support for the community and the armed forces. We also express our sincere appreciation to paramedics Stan Baxter, Andy Ellis, Simon Holliday, and Emergency Medical Technician Simon Thomas from the Trust’s Cycle Response Unit (CRU) for selflessly providing medical cover and cycle repair services throughout the journey.
