Woody's Lodge Mug | Armed Forces Support
Funding

Here at Woody’s Lodge, we are absolutely delighted that different trusts and funding authorities have chosen our charity to support with grants of various sizes.

In our first six months, we received over 1,200 visits from veterans in Cardiff and the wider Vale of Glamorgan.

Every bit of financial support that we receive at Woody’s Lodge, allows us to keep going with our work, expanding our services and helping even more veterans, emergency service leavers and their families.

We are proud to announce the receipt of two significant grants from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, enabling us to expand our support services for veterans across Wales.

Firstly, our pioneering initiative, ‘Blue Beacon,’ has been awarded a £15,000 grant, affirming our commitment to reducing reoffending rates among veterans in the Conwy area. With a multi-faceted approach encompassing online platforms, local collaborations, and community events, Blue Beacon aims to provide comprehensive reintegration support focusing on mental health, skills and employment, social reintegration, and holistic well-being. This project, backed by consultations with veterans and professionals, not only strengthens our expertise but also fosters enduring partnerships for sustainable impact.

Secondly, we are thrilled to receive a significant grant of £100,000 for our “Veterans in Care” project, dedicated to supporting elderly veterans in care homes across Wales. In collaboration with organizations such as Age Cymru, this initiative seeks to create veteran-specific groups within care homes, offer tailored activities, and provide support for veterans living at home with dementia. By establishing veteran-specific group sessions and Elderly Veterans Peer Mentors, we aim to enhance mental health and foster a sense of community among these esteemed individuals.

These grants signify a remarkable milestone in our mission to serve those who have served us. With the support of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, Woody’s Lodge is poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans, ensuring that their contributions are honored and their needs are met, both now and in the years to come. We invite you to join us in this transformative journey of empowerment and support for our veterans.
