Journey to Normandy Battlefields

Normandy Coach Sightseeing Trip

Join Woody’s Lodge Charity on an Unforgettable 80th Anniversary Journey to Normandy Battlefields.

At Woody’s Lodge, we believe in honouring and supporting our veterans who have selflessly served our country. We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for veterans to embark on a meaningful sightseeing coach trip to the historic Normandy Battlefields. This exclusive excursion is set to take place from the 20th to the 24th of May this year, preceding the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. This journey to  Normandy Battlefields promises to be both enriching and unforgettable, filled with camaraderie, remembrance, and breathtaking sights.

Itinerary

The journey to Normandy Battlefields begins at the pick-up point in Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, where our veterans will gather for a trip that holds particular significance in 2024, the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. From there, the group will embark on an overnight ferry journey, creating an opportunity for shared stories and connections. This will be followed by a 2-night stay in a local hotel and an overnight ferry for the return trip.

Visits are anticipated for Pegasus Bridge, Arrowmanches, Utah, Omaha, Gold, Sword and Juno beaches, British Memorial, and a number of cemeteries.

Accommodations

Our veterans will spend two nights at a comfortable B&B hotel, providing a peaceful retreat after days filled with exploration. Accommodation options include single rooms for £725 per person or shared rooms at £539 per person. We understand the importance of a good night’s rest, ensuring that our heroes are well-rested for the next day’s adventures.

Meals

While meals are not included in the package, breakfast at the hotel is provided, ensuring everyone starts the day with energy and enthusiasm. The opportunity to explore local cuisine during the trip adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

To join this incredible journey, interested veterans can contact Kevin Lambert at the Eirias Park North Wales hub on 01492 533954. A deposit of £75 is required to secure reservations, allowing us to plan for a seamless and enjoyable trip for everyone involved.

Why Normandy?

Our successful second charity cycle event, Woody’s Lodge Battlefield Tours 2023, placed our participants at the epicentre of the largest invasion in warfare that brought an end to WWII on the continent. The Normandy Battlefields hold significant historical importance, especially for those who have served in the military. This trip offers a chance for veterans to pay their respects to the fallen, reflect on their own service, and connect with like-minded individuals who share a common bond. As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, this journey becomes an even more poignant opportunity to honour the sacrifices made during that pivotal moment in history.

We are aware that visiting such sites can be emotionally challenging. Please be rest assured that Woody’s Lodge has ensured that there will be plenty of support available at each of the sites.

At Woody’s Lodge, we are dedicated to providing meaningful experiences for our veterans, and this trip to the Normandy Battlefields is no exception. As we come together to explore the history and pay homage to those who have sacrificed so much, we hope to create lasting memories and foster a sense of community among our heroes. Join us on this remarkable 80th-anniversary journey as we honour the past and celebrate the present, creating bonds that will last a lifetime.
