Veterans Annual Cycle Fundraiser Events

Join Woody’s Lodge for an unforgettable cycling challenge through the Netherlands as we take on our Operation Market Garden Cycle 2026 from 2 to 6 September.

This powerful annual event brings people together to remember, reflect, and ride with purpose. Over a number of days, cyclists will take on an incredible journey linked to the history of Operation Market Garden, while raising vital funds to support the work of Woody’s Lodge.

Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or taking on a new personal challenge, this event is about more than the miles. It is about camaraderie, resilience, remembrance, and helping us continue to provide support to veterans, reservists, emergency service personnel, and their families across Wales.

For the past four years, Woody’s Lodge has embarked on extraordinary cycling journeys in honour of our veterans. In 2022 we pedalled from Cardiff to Paris, in 2023 we ventured through the hallowed grounds of the Normandy Battlefields, an epic saga celebrating fallen heroes. In 2024 there was the Brecon to National Arboretum ride and in 2025 we journeyed through the Somme Battlefields. Now, as we reflect on their profound impact, we’re thrilled to unveil our next chapter:
Operation Market Garden Cycle 2026.

Here’s a word from Kath, who participated in the Cardiff to Paris cycle

“The cycle ride meant so much to me as a trustee of Woody’s. I’ve been a trustee since we achieved charity status and being ex-military and now a Police officer, Woody’s ethos and purpose is very close to my heart. I’ve never been a cyclist before so the Cardiff to Paris ride was a HUGE challenge for me. That’s what I wanted and that’s what I got! I was determined to complete every centimetre of the ride and thankfully made it, which really made me feel that I earned all the sponsorship money that people were kind enough to give me. I have seen first-hand how the money helps veterans and emergency service personnel and know how important it is in saving lives.”

Here’s a word from Sarah, who participated in the Normandy Battlefields cycle

“Embarking on the Normandy Battlefields fundraising cycle event was an incredible fusion of physical endurance and heartfelt connections. Meeting a diverse group of passionate individuals cycling for a wonderful cause fostered an unmatched camaraderie. Despite the challenge posed by my under-equipped bike, conquering each day’s cycle filled me with immense pride. The event’s seamless organisation complemented our fundraising efforts, and surpassing this goal was deeply rewarding. This experience wasn’t just about cycling; it symbolised the strength of community, determination, and the profound impact of collective support for a great cause. I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to such a meaningful charity through this unforgettable journey.”
