Penlan Farm is located near Cardegian and is one of our most ambitious projects yet. Surrounded by rolling hills and stunning countryside, this Western Wales farm is home to innovative initiatives that place Woody’s Lodge in a league of its own.
Acres of opportunity
Spanning an incredible 11 acres, Penlan Farm has plenty of open fields, gardens, orchards, and barns. This variety of outside space makes it an ideal destination for creative projects and gatherings. With so much land at our disposal, prepare yourself for exciting times!
Those who made it possible
The only reason we were able to expand into Penlan Farm was thanks to Mr and Mrs Murphy. They unexpectedly gifted us the land as they were impressed with our work. When we heard the reason behind the kind gesture, we couldn’t stop blushing! We were filled with gratitude and appreciate the acknowledgement.
Additionally, we received grant funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. Namely, ‘Positive Pathways’.
The grant will have a phenomenal impact on our progress as it allows us to develop the farm for the next two years. Penlan Farm is transforming into a hub of activity and is the central point for so many exciting projects.
Positive Pathways
This grant funds projects that support the mental health and well-being of veterans. At the heart of the fund is ‘The Green, Green Grass of Home’ project. It’s an uplifting initiative that brings together Veterans, ex-members of the Emergency Services and their families in natural surroundings. The aim is to improve relationships and mental and physical health through fun outdoor activities.
Memorable experiences at Penlan Farm
Penlan Farm is a charming property that’s versatile enough to cater to a range of services and facilities. On the one hand, this will be the location for veterans and their families to enjoy holidays at no cost to them. We plan to offer seasonal holiday cottages and camping sites, as well as plenty of weekend activities such as painting, blacksmithing, nature watching, gardening, and exploring the local land and seascape. All activities at Penlan Farm will be accessible via our drop-in centre for those living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire areas.
As you may know, our existing drop-in centres have been so successful at supporting our veterans and providing a space for friendships and community, especially within isolated rural communities throughout West Wales.
On the other hand, Penlan Farm will accommodate training facilities for agencies and individuals working within the Armed Forces Support community. A big part will help to foster a closer relationship between cadets and veterans. Those learning the ropes will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience from those who are well-respected in their fields. Woody’s also plans to extend these facilities to all our rural hubs and provide activities and support for the Military Service Children Community.

We have come a long way
Since we opened our doors in 2017, we have welcomed more than 8700 veterans and supported more than 2800 beneficiaries. We hope to continue this legacy at our Penlan branch and make it a place of fun, adventure, growth and learning.
