Donate military medals to the Walk Not Talk initiative and help Woody’s Lodge continue to serve our veterans

Calling all auction houses and British citizens. If you would like to help our veterans and their families, a new initiative named Walk Not Talk seeks to raise money for Woody’s Lodge. As many of you know, we are a social hub for veterans of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services and Reservists. Our goal is to help them re-engage with their families and communities while making new friends and memories along the way and this initiative will help us raise much needed funds.

The Murphy’s

Walk Not Talk is the brainchild of our friend and key sponsor of Woody’s Lodge, veteran Chris Murphy. Chris and his wife have been long-time supporters of Woody’s Lodge and showed their appreciation for the work we do in a big way. They graciously gifted us a beautiful smallholding in Wales called Penlan Farm. Here, veterans and their families can enjoy holidays and plenty of weekend activities at no cost.

A closer look at Walk Not Talk

Walk Not Talk encourages people to donate military medals, and Chris will place these on auction through Golding Young and Mawer. MD of the auctioneering company, Colin Young, has kindly offered to auction them at Zero Vendor Commission, with all proceeds going to Woody’s Lodge.

Where to donate

Chris’s commitment to the initiative led to him setting up a military medal and bookshop near Bedford where you can drop off your donations Thursday, Friday and Saturday, see opening times on his website www.militarymedalsandbooks.co.uk . You will be met with a warm welcome and a hot cup of coffee, COVID allowing. To arrange another pickup location and time, you can call Chris’s shop on 01234 224491 or send through an email: contact@militarymedalsandbooks.co.uk

As a veteran he is on the lookout for 100 military medals and hopes to reach this number by June or July. He has already collected about £4,000 worth of items to get the ball rolling.

Chris said:

“I completely understand how painful it is to give away sentimental memorabilia but think of the good that will come from this and the help that you can give others.”

How Auction Houses and Medal Dealers can help

Chris is also appealing to auction houses to help the cause and donate any items left behind without any buyers or vendors reclaiming them. Medal Dealers will also be contacted to search out something to donate. For any large items, he will arrange collections in Wales or England. You can contact him on the details provided above.

“This is the opportunity to show your appreciation and say thank you to our veterans. Let’s stand up to preserve the freedom and life that we all hold dear,” he expressed.
