Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme

Here at Woody’s Lodge, we are delighted to announce that we have received the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant! The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises employers that are committed to supporting defence personnel. It is such an honour for us and our team to be recognised as we proudly support those who have served. As many of you will know, our team works hard to support and signpost those who’ve served in the Armed Forces and the Emergency Services, plus many of our team are veterans themselves.

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme encourages employers to support those who’ve served in the Armed Forces, and their families, and to inspire others to do the same. The scheme has bronze, silver and gold awards for organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to the armed forces community. In addition, you also need to have the same values as the Armed Forces Covenant.

We are so thrilled to have this recognition from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and the Armed Forces Covenant, it means so much to everyone at Woody’s Lodge! Graham Jones, our CEO, said:
Everything we do here at Woody’s Lodge is to support those who’ve served in the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. We are very proud to receive such recognition from the Armed Forces Covenant for our dedication to support those who’ve served, both in our team at Woody’s and in our community!

In order to receive this award, there are certain criteria that Woody’s had to meet including:

– pledge to support the armed forces, including existing or prospective employees who are members of the community
– must have signed the Armed Forces Covenant
– promote being armed forces-friendly and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners

Recently, there has been so much good news, from Nigel being awarded a BT Openreach Community Connectors Award to Sian Woodland, being promoted to Deputy CEO here at Woody’s Lodge, we are long overdue a celebration! Once the world is able to go back to normal, we’ll definitely be organising something special to celebrate all of these moments of joy in the midst of a difficult time.

Here at Woody’s Lodge, we are a Welsh veteran’s charity with a whole range of veteran support services available, in South, North and West Wales. Stay up to date with everything that’s on at Woody’s, plus why not subscribe to our newsletter here?
