Woody’s Lodge Celebrates Successful 3rd Annual Cycle Ride Fundraiser
Hereford to National Arboretum Cycle Fundraiser 2024: Marking a Significant Milestone
This June, Woody’s Lodge marked a significant milestone with its 3rd Annual Cycle Ride Fundraiser, coinciding with the 42nd anniversary of the end of the Falklands Conflict. From the 14th to the 16th of June, our determined team of cyclists embarked on a journey not just of physical endurance, but of remembrance and tribute.
Fundraising Success
Despite fielding a smaller team this year, we are thrilled to announce that the event raised over £10,000! This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all our participants and logistical supporters. Each pedal pushed and each mile covered brought us closer to our goal, not just in distance but in spirit and community support. You can watch the highlights of our journey in our YouTube video about the bike ride here.
Heartfelt Reception
The culmination of our journey was a heartfelt reception at our final destination—the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. We were warmly welcomed by the dedicated volunteers and staff, who helped make the closing of our event particularly memorable. Their hospitality was a reminder of the strong community ties that support our cause. You can also watch a slideshow of photos from our recent bike ride here.
Reflecting and Honouring
At the Arboretum, we conducted a brief service at the Falklands Memorial, a poignant moment for all involved. It was a time of reflection and honour for those who served and sacrificed during the Falklands Conflict. Additionally, we visited the central memorial where Paul Woodland’s name is etched into Portland stone. Paying respects to Paul, whose memory and name inspire the foundation of our charity, was a moving tribute that resonated with all present.
Community Bonding
This year’s cycle ride was not only about raising funds but also about raising awareness and strengthening bonds within our community. Each rider, supporter, and volunteer played a crucial role in making this event successful and meaningful.
Gratitude to Participants and Sponsors
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated, supported, and cheered us on. Your enthusiasm and generosity make all the difference. As we look forward to next year, we are inspired to continue this wonderful tradition with even greater impact.
And we cannot forget a special thank you to our wonderful sponsors for this event: Masons Removals, Grace & Concept, Farralls Group, Peace Within Counselling, Pinnacle Office Solutions, Signature Property Finance, and finally Black Mountain for the shirt printing.
