New Funding to Support Royal Navy and Royal Marines Veterans

We’re really pleased to share that Woody’s Lodge has secured £30,000 of funding to support Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans over the next year.

This funding will help us strengthen the support we already provide and reach more people who may need us, with a particular focus on veterans in North Wales, especially those living in more rural or isolated communities.

For many veterans, the transition from military to civilian life isn’t always easy. It can come with a loss of routine, identity, and connection, alongside practical challenges around employment, housing, and knowing where to go for help.

This project allows us to respond to those challenges in a way that feels right for the people we support.

Over the next year, we’ll be increasing one-to-one support delivered by people with lived experience, reaching out to veterans who may be feeling isolated, and creating more opportunities for people to come together in relaxed, informal settings that build confidence and connection.

While the focus will be on North Wales, the project also strengthens our wider support across Wales, helping us continue to develop a consistent, peer-led approach that benefits veterans wherever they are.

A key part of this work is that it’s peer-led. Many of our team have served themselves, which helps us build trust and offer support that genuinely understands the experiences of Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans.

This funding also allows us to step in earlier, offering support before things reach crisis point, which we know can make a huge difference to long-term wellbeing.

Although this is a one-year project, our aim at Woody’s Lodge is for it to become a lasting part of what we do, continuing to support veterans well into the future.

At its heart, this is about making sure no one feels like they have to go through things alone
