Armed Forces Community Support leads to award nomination for Woody's Lodge Co-Chair

Armed Forces Community Service Leads to a Lifetime Achievement Nomination for Woody’s Lodge Co-Chair, Dr David Trotman.

Woody’s Lodge is incredibly proud to share the news that our Co-Chair of the Management Board, Dr David Trotman, has been named a finalist in the prestigious 2025 Soldiering On Awards – nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his extraordinary lifetime service to the Armed Forces community.

Now in their 15th year, the Soldiering On Awards shine a national spotlight on individuals, groups, and organisations whose contributions to the military community go above and beyond. Across twelve categories, these awards honour those whose dedication, courage, and community spirit represent the very best of our society.

Dr Trotman is one of just three finalists in the Lifetime Achievement Award category, sponsored by Oracle. This award recognises individuals whose lifetime of selfless service has made a profound and lasting impact on the lives of those within the Armed Forces community.

Dr David Trotman serves as Co-Chair of the Management Board at Woody’s Lodge, having first joined the organisation around its inception in 2014 and formally appointed Chair in April 2020 . Prior to this, he held senior leadership roles with Barnardo’s Wales, Parkinson’s Disease Society, Stroke Association UK, and as CEO of Action on Addiction, before returning to Wales in 2000 to lead RSPB Cymru’s marketing and funding initiatives. Since becoming Co-Chair, Dr Trotman has worked to support Woody’s Lodge’s governance and strategic growth, including expansion to drop‑in centres across South, North, and West Wales . His nomination for the Soldiering On Lifetime Achievement Award recognises this sustained public service and dedication to supporting the Armed Forces and wider community.

The finalists will be celebrated at a special reception in July at the House of Lords, hosted by the Awards’ Patron, the Rt Hon Earl Howe GBE PC. The overall winners will be revealed at the Soldiering On Awards Ceremony in October, hosted by broadcasting legend Jeremy Vine at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel.

From all of us at Woody’s Lodge, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr Trotman for this much-deserved recognition. We are grateful every day for his tireless work, and we are honoured to stand beside him in serving our Armed Forces community.
