Woody’s Lodge Awarded £40,000 in Veteran Funding from AFCFT’s ‘Thrive Together’ Project!
We’re excited to share some fantastic news- Woody’s Lodge has been awarded £40,000 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) through their Thrive Together project! This vital veteran funding marks a major step forward in our mission to enhance mental health support and community connections for veterans and their families across Wales.
Strengthening Peer Support for Veterans in Wales
This funding will allow us to expand our peer mentoring services, working collaboratively with partners Alabare and VC Gallery. Over the next 18 months, we’ll be building a robust support network to ensure that no veteran feels alone on their journey back to civilian life.
Here’s what this grant will help us achieve:
✔ Recruitment of a Part-Time Peer Mentor in South Wales
This new team member will lead the way in establishing a dedicated group of trained volunteer mentors. Their work will start in South Wales and grow to reach veterans in North and West Wales as the project progresses.
✔ Accredited Training for Volunteer Mentors
To maintain the highest standards of support, all mentors will receive accredited training. This ensures consistency and professionalism in the peer support services offered across all regions.
✔ Launch of an Online Veteran Community Platform
To bridge the gap between geography and isolation, we’ll be creating a digital space for veterans to connect, share stories, and find support no matter where they are in Wales.
✔ Improved Referral Pathways
We’re enhancing connections with third-sector and statutory organisations, providing veterans with more streamlined access to mental health support, housing assistance, financial advice, and more—without having to repeat their story time and time again.
A Shared Vision with Thrive Together
This project directly supports Woody’s Lodge’s long-standing commitment to providing a safe, supportive environment where veterans can thrive. We’re incredibly proud to be working alongside Alabare, VC Gallery, and the wider Thrive Together initiative to make this vision a reality.
